BUMI subsidiary, KPC is Large Coal Mining Champion at ASEAN Energy Awards 2023

PT Bumi Resources Tbk., (“BUMI” or “The Company”) through its subsidiary PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) won the prestigious Champion for Coal Mining Large category at the ASEAN Energy Awards 2023 (24/8) in Nusa Dua, Bali. This award was received by Louise G. Pessireron, Project Management and Evaluation (PME) Manager, representing KPC's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ashok Mitra. The award was given by Deputy Minister of State for Mines and Energy of Cambodia Victor Jona.
KPC - Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ashok Mitra expressed his gratitude to the judges of the ASEAN Energy Awards 2023, who had chosen KPC as the winner of the event. "Thank you to the jury of the ASEAN Energy Awards 2023 for awarding KPC as Winner. This indicates that KPC's operations are in line with the three pillars of ASEAN energy, namely sustainability, security and interconnectivity," said Ashok.
At this event, KPC explained the application of Good Mining Practice to Contribute Environmental, Social, and Governance Commitments for Sustainability.
President Director of PT Bumi Resources Tbk., Adika Nuraga Bakrie, said, “The company expresses its gratitude for the prestigious award won by KPC in the 2023 ASEAN Energy Award. BUMI's commitment and its business units is always to support the Government's program in providing energy for the country. The commitment made by the Company is not just a program, but has become the Core Competence of the Company's business which has been embedded into BUMI and its business units, and able to carry out the best practices, contribute to creating independence in society which undoubtedly contributes directly to the realization of SDGs and aspects of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) as stated in Law no. 40 of 2007 concerning Limited Liability Companies.”
He added that, “Through Good Mining Practice we want to grow, develop and be sustainable together with the surrounding communities in our operational locations. We can achieve it by good corporate governance, clear systems operation monitoring and cares for the community for food security, agribusiness, water, and waste management.”
The awarding of the 2023 ASEAN Energy Awards took place simultaneously at the 41st ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM-41) and the ASEAN Business Energy Forum (AEBF). The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif, together with the Energy Ministers of ASEAN countries were present at the event.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif in his remarks said the importance of interconnectivity for sustainable energy between ASEAN countries. According to him, “the three ASEAN energy pillars namely sustainability, security and interconnectivity are the keys to realizing sustainable energy security. Interconnectivity is an important agenda in Indonesia's Chair at the ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (41st AMEM) in 2023. These pillars represent our main challenge to accelerate energy connectivity to achieve sustainable ASEAN growth," said Tasrif.
