PT Bumi Resources Tbk (“BUMI” or the “Company”) achieves Top 5 Companies for GCG (Good Corporate Governance) in category of Mining Company at Indonesia Corporate Secretary Award 2017, organized by Warta Ekonomi 2017 in Jakarta, Tuesday, 5 December 2017.

This Indonesia Corporate Secretary Award 2017 honors and extends appreciation to companies carrying out the role of CORSEC in a good manner, as well as makes these companies serve as a benchmark for other companies, encouraging them to follow suit. This award was received by Mr. Dileep Srivastava BUMI Director and Corporate Secretary. The assessment for the award was based on research conducted by the team of Warta Ekonomi who were monitoring Good Corporate Governance (GCG) practices carried out by IDX listed companies for 9 months, from January through September 2017. The team relied on media coverage, analyzing the contents of news stories from 40 national online news portals with respect to application of good standards of CORSEC.
The application of Good Standards of CORSEC was assessed in accordance with the rules set by the National Committee of Governance Policy, which relate to the following 5 principles:
In order to maintain the objectivity in conducting its business, Company must provide any and all material and relevant information in such a way that is easily accessible and comprehended by the stakeholders. Not only must Company take the initiative to disclosure all matters required by law, but they must provide any significant information as well in respect of decision making by shareholders, creditors, and the stakeholders.
Company is held accountable for its performance in a transparent and fair manner. This way, it must be managed in a professional and measured manner in accordance with Company’s interests while still paying heed to the interests of shareholders, and other stakeholders. Accountability is a prerequisite to achieving performance in a continuous manner.
Company must abide by existing laws and regulations, as well as perform its social responsibility to the people and the environment, allowing it to maintain long-term business continuity and get recognized as a good corporate citizen.
To ensure the smooth implementation of GCG principles, Company must be managed in an independent manner, so that each of the Company’s organs will not dominate or influence one another.
In conducting activities, Company must consistently pay heed to the interest of shareholders and other stakeholders based on the principles of fairness and equality.
