PT BUMI Resources Tbk. through its business unit PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) was once again named the mining company with largest royalty payment or largest royalty payer in 2017. This award was conferred directly by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and received by KPC Chief Finance Officer (CFO) Ashok Mitra on Thursday (30 Nov) at Dhanapala Building, the Office of Finance Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia. Royalties generated by KPC in 2016 amounted to USD404.7 million, an 8.2% increase from the previous USD374.0 million in 2015.
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani stated that Natural Resources have made the largest contribution of Non-Tax State Revenue over the last 10 years. As many as 25% of government’s revenue was derived from this sector, demonstrating the optimum contribution generated by royalty payments. In light of this, she highlighted that royalty payments and collections must be managed in a good manner in terms of running the entire country, said the Finance Minister.
KPC has been named the largest royalty payer in the last two years since the award presentation from the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. The category achieved by KPC was the largest non-oil and gas company. Prior to being conferred the award for largest royalty payer, KPC had also been named the largest royalty payer for the periods 2010-014. “We learned about this from the report of EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative) Indonesia obtained from the Finance Ministry, said Chief Finance Officer - Ashok Mitra after receiving the award. KPC is so grateful for the appreciation given by the Government. This award has encouraged us to materialize. KPC commitment to continuous compliance with existing rules and participation in the country’s development,” said Ashok.
